Guide 3 of 10

Draft your first proposal from an address

Type the address, place the panels on the real roof, choose the system and press Generate. The price updates as you go, and every figure comes from your own rate card.

WHERE TO FIND IT
Make a proposal, in the Sales group. The eight steps run down the left; the price runs down the right. On a phone the steps are a row of chips and the price is a sheet at the bottom.

Starting from a lead? Press Start a proposal on it in the Leads tab, and its details fill in.

The steps are Customer & site, Roof, System, Incentives, Site extras, Price, Story & consultant and Review & send. Each ends with Next → (Story & consultant ends with Review →), which stays off until the step is done. A battery-only job has no roof step.

1. Customer & site

  1. Type the customer’s name, phone and email. The email is how you send the proposal and how they sign it.
  2. Start typing the Home address and pick it from the list. The roof scans itself. If you typed the address in full instead, press Scan roof.
  3. Answer How did this sale start?: Customer enquired or We approached them. Every draft needs an answer. The second prints the cooling-off notice; see what your customer sees.
  4. Choose What are we quoting?: Not sure yet, Solar only, Battery only or Solar + battery.
  5. Set the Home supply. If you can’t tell, leave it unsure: the job sheet flags it for the electrician.
  6. Answer Solar on the roof right now? and, if there is some, its size and its inverter.
  7. Under The home, set the people at home and tick what applies: gas, a pool pump, air conditioning, controlled-load hot water, an electric car, heat-pump hot water. If the bill shows a yearly kWh, type it in.

2. Roof

The scan shows the aerial photo and where panels could go. Nothing is placed for you.

  1. Check it’s the right house. If not, press Wrong house? Mark the roof and click the centre of the right roof. It’s analysed again from there.
  2. In Place panels, click to place one panel, or press and drag to lay a row. Drag a panel to move it.
  3. Use Select area to drag a box around panels, then Duplicate or Delete them. Undo and Redo are beside them.
  4. Use Mark obstruction for a skylight, vent or chimney. Panels can’t sit on one.
  5. Under the photo, tap a roof face to leave it out (shaded, tiled, the neighbour’s side). If you measured a face’s tilt or direction on site, type it in and the yield follows.

The photo’s date is shown. If it’s more than two years old, check the roof still looks like that. If there’s no roof data for the building, draw the roof faces yourself.

3. System

  1. If your company has saved packages, pick one from Package, or build the system below.
  2. For Option A, choose the panel (or leave Auto — Jouli picks) and a size in kW or a panel count.
  3. Choose the battery and its size. There’s no Auto for batteries.
  4. Choose What stays on in a blackout: No backup circuit, Partial backup or Full-home backup.
  5. To choose the inverter yourself, press Choose the inverter myself ›. Add an EV charger if they want one.
  6. To show a second choice, press + Add a second option. Option B is what changes from Option A, and needs a battery on Option A. Two options is the most.

4. Incentives

The certificate zone and today’s battery program tier come from the address. Where the job’s state has a question, such as the WA battery rebate or Queensland’s renter rebate, answer it from what the customer told you. Never assume.

5. Site extras

Tick what this site needs on top: tile or a steep roof, a switchboard upgrade, battery safety items, a long cable run. Search by name, or press Nothing extra on this site ›.

6. Price

Leave it at your published price, or choose a reason for a discount and say how much before GST (or type the all-in price they should pay, and the amount fills itself in). What else it asks depends on the reason:

  • For most reasons, What they gave us for it. This prints on the proposal, so write it the way you’d say it.
  • For a matched quote, also The quote we’re matching.
  • For The owner has said yes to this one, Why this price instead. That note stays internal: the proposal shows the line as an owner-approved concession, with no note. Drafted by anyone but the owner, it’s held until the owner releases it, or back office, if you ticked Back office can set a job’s price as well as the owner under Admin → Pricing. Then Support sees this reason as Setting the price ourselves, and its own drafts aren’t held.

A discount above what needs no approval is held. Fill in Who approved it to ask for the release. An approver sees it under My proposals → Waiting for you.

7. Story & consultant

  1. Write The story: what matters to this customer. If there’s nothing unusual, press Nothing unusual about this job ›.
  2. Add a note to the customer if you want one. It prints under your name.
  3. Choose the consultant. Every proposal needs one before it can be sent.
  4. Add the bill or the smart-meter file. See reading a bill.

8. Generate

  1. Watch The price so far on the right. It updates as you change things.
  2. Press Generate draft →. If something is missing, the rail lists what, with a button to each step.
  3. Review & send opens with the document. Switch between Proposal, Job sheet and Diagram, or press Open full size in a new tab ›.
  4. The Just made card says Ready to send, or why the draft is held.

The AI picks products from your catalogue and writes the story. The engine prices every line from your rate card. If the AI is unavailable, the draft is built by rule and says “Drafted without the AI. Check the design before sending.”

Before Generate, the job needs a name and an address, panels on the roof for a solar job, a battery and its size for a battery job, an answer in Site extras, a consultant, and how the sale started.

Next, send it.
