What we collect

Jouli collects only what's needed to provide the service: your email address when you sign up, your postcode or location when you use the tool, and anonymous usage data to improve the product. We do not collect your name, phone number, or any financial information.

How we use your data

• Your email is used to send product updates and your system report — nothing else.
• Your location data is used to fetch NASA solar irradiance data for your area. It is not stored long-term or shared.
• Anonymous usage analytics help us understand which features are most useful.

What we don't do

Jouli does not sell your data, share it with installers or energy retailers, or use it for advertising. We are not an installer referral business. Our revenue comes entirely from subscriptions.

Third-party services

Jouli uses NASA POWER (NASA, USA) for solar irradiance data and Nominatim/OpenStreetMap for postcode geocoding. Both are free, public services. We use Stripe for payment processing — Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.

Data retention

If you delete your account, all personal data is removed within 30 days. Email us at hello@jouli.com.au to request deletion at any time.

About Jouli

Jouli is a solar, battery, and EV design tool for Australian households and installers. By using Jouli, you agree to these terms.

Not financial or engineering advice

All estimates produced by Jouli are indicative only. They are based on publicly available data and statistical models — not a site inspection, a licensed electrical assessment, or financial advice. Always verify Jouli's estimates with a CEC-accredited installer before making any purchase decision.

Accuracy and limitations

Solar generation estimates carry a typical accuracy of ±8–12%. Economic projections carry ±15–20% uncertainty. See our Accuracy page for the full breakdown. Jouli is not liable for any decisions made based on these estimates.

Subscriptions and billing

Free tier is free forever. Pro ($14/month) and Business ($79/month) subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. You can cancel at any time — cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No refunds for partial months.

Acceptable use

You may use Jouli for personal and commercial energy design purposes. You may not reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell Jouli's outputs or data. Business subscribers may use Jouli outputs in client proposals.

Changes to these terms

We'll notify subscribers by email of any material changes with at least 14 days notice.

Accuracy by module

Why load profiling is the weakest link

Your actual electricity consumption depends on habits, occupancy, and appliance age — none of which Jouli can measure remotely. The ±10–20% load uncertainty flows through into all downstream calculations. Uploading your NEM12 electricity bill (coming soon) reduces this to ±3–5%.

What a site inspection adds

A CEC-accredited installer can measure your actual roof orientation, shading from trees and neighbouring buildings, and grid connection capacity. This typically reduces overall system sizing uncertainty from ±10–15% to ±3–5%. Jouli is designed to get you 90% of the way there before you talk to anyone.

• Grid tariffs: AEMO NEM data, updated quarterly
• STC rebate: Clean Energy Regulator current deeming period
• EV efficiency: manufacturer published WLTP figures
