Draw the roof where there’s no roof data
Some buildings have an aerial photo but no roof survey. Outline the roof faces yourself and give each its pitch and direction, and the estimate uses them.
Make a proposal → Roof, the Draw roof face mode. It only appears when Google has no roof data for this building.
When you need it
When a scan finds the photo but no roof data, the mode row shows Draw roof face, “Google has no data for this roof”. On a surveyed roof it isn’t offered: tap a face’s tilt or direction instead and type what you measured on site.
When the scan finds no aerial photo at all, it says “No aerial analysis for that address — the draft still works, just without the roof picture.” With no photo, no panels can be placed, so a Solar only or Solar + battery draft can’t be generated. Not sure yet and Battery only still can.
Draw a face
- Press Draw roof face.
- Drag a box over the face, or tap each corner and tap the first corner again to close it. Enter closes the shape; Esc abandons it.
- Tap the face’s lower (gutter) edge. That sets which way it faces.
- In the face’s row under the photo, set Pitch (flat to 45°, or type a figure) and Facing (a compass point, or type a bearing).
- Draw the other faces the same way. A roof can have up to 12.
- Switch to Place panels and place the panels inside the faces. A panel belongs to the face its centre sits in, and takes its direction.
Remove face takes one away, and Undo works on faces as it does on panels.
How the faces are used
The estimate uses your faces only when every panel sits on a drawn face, and every face has a pitch and a direction. It then scales the postcode’s yield by each face’s tilt and direction, and the proposal says the estimate is scaled for the roof faces your consultant drew.
If any of that is missing, the cockpit warns you (“panel sits on no face you drew”, or a face with no pitch or direction yet), and the estimate falls back to the postcode’s yield and says why. The faces change the generation figures, never the price.
