Set up your company
Before the first proposal goes out, an owner fills in what every proposal prints: your legal details, the bank account your customers pay into, your licences and the terms your customer signs.
Admin, in the Company group of the left rail. Only an owner sees every pane. If your company has a Setup tab, start there.
Online sign-up is coming soon. Until it opens, apply for early access and we set your company up with you, then you finish the steps below in the cockpit.
- Open jouli.com.au/cockpit.
- Type your Work email and press Email me a code.
- Type the six-digit code from the email and press Sign in. Codes work once and last 10 minutes. There’s no password.
The Setup tab
If your company has one, Admin → Setup lists each step below and marks it Needed to quote, Needed to send, Optional or Done. Each step has a button that opens the right pane. The tab goes away once every step is done.
Until your company details are in, you can price, build and preview proposals, but sending stays off. A proposal has to carry your legal identity.
1. Company details
- Open Admin → Company.
- Fill in your ABN, legal name, Trading name, as your proposals show it, Business address, Phone and Support email, printed on proposals.
- If the business is a trust, tick This business is a trust, and a trustee signs for it.
- Under Electrical licence numbers, type your licence number for each state you quote in. Every state you price needs one before you can send there.
- Tick the Accreditations your business actually holds. Proposals print only what you tick. When you turn one on, also tick Each accreditation ticked here is current and our company’s own (terms clause 6). Without it, the save is refused.
- Press Save company details. If the pane shows a Check ABN button, press it to check your details against the Business Register.
Once sending is on, your ABN is fixed. To change it, email hello@jouli.com.au.
2. Bank account
- In Admin → Company, under Bank account, fill in the Account name, BSB and Account number.
- Press Save bank details.
This is the account your customers pay into. Jouli never handles customer money. A change to it is emailed to your owners and listed in red under Admin → Activity.
3. Products and prices
Add what you sell, what it costs you, the states you quote in, your margins and your install costs. That has its own guide.
4. What your customer signs
- Open Admin → Sending and scroll to Contract terms.
- Set the Booking deposit on acceptance and the share due When stock is delivered. The rest is due on completion, and the pane shows it as you type.
- Set how many days an offer holds (7 to 90) and your workmanship warranty in years. Leave the warranty blank to state none.
- Press Save contract terms.
Until you change them, proposals ask for 10% on acceptance, 60% when stock is delivered and 30% on completion, an offer holds 21 days, and no workmanship warranty is stated. These are your terms. Jouli prints them; you decide them. See clause 5 of the terms.
5. How your proposals look (optional)
- Open Admin → Proposal.
- Upload a logo (PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG, up to 200 KB) and set your primary and accent colours.
- Choose which pages print, and add your “About us”, warranty and terms text if you want them on the proposal.
- Press Save.
6. How proposals are sent (optional)
- Open Admin → Sending.
- Under The proposal email, change the subject and body if you want to. The body must include
{link}. Use Preview to see it. - Under Copies on every send, add up to three CC and three BCC addresses.
- Under Signing, tick Proposals need our countersignature if a signature should wait for you, or Instant accept if customers may accept with their name and a tick. Both are off until you tick them.
- Press Save.
Next, add your team.
