Quote hot water and heating & cooling (VEU)
Quote heat pump water heaters and reverse-cycle air conditioners under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program, on their own or with solar and a battery. The VEECs come off the price at your accredited VEU partner’s price, rounded down to whole certificates.
Make a proposal: Also quoting in the Customer section, or What’s in this job at the top of Roof & system. The products come from Admin → Products & pricing → Add a product.
Jouli doesn’t create or trade VEECs, and isn’t an accredited provider. Your accredited VEU partner creates the VEECs. Your rate card names that partner and your price for each VEEC. With no partner named, no VEU discount is priced, and the rail says why; to have yours set, email hello@jouli.com.au. VEU applies to a Victorian address only.
Add the products
- Open Admin → Products & pricing, then Add a product. Owner only.
- Choose Hot water or Heating & cooling as the kind, and search by brand or model. These are listings on the VEU register; an air conditioner shows its type, its heating and cooling kW and its category.
- On a result marked Ready to quote, press Add.
- Type What it sells for, supplied and installed, inc GST, and the Warranty against defects, years. VEU needs at least 5 years, so less is refused.
- For a multi-split, list the indoor units this price covers: each one’s maker as on its nameplate, its model, rated heating and cooling kW, and how many. Press + Another indoor unit for the next. The maker must be the outdoor unit’s. Another set of indoor units is another product, with its own code and price.
- Press Add to my catalogue.
Each one is priced at what you typed, and nothing goes on your rate card. In the Catalogue list, each is marked On the VEU register, or Not on the VEU register · no VEECs.
Start the job
- In Customer, under Also quoting, press Hot water or Heating & cooling, or both. You can also press them under What’s in this job in Roof & system. Pressed again, it comes off the job.
- Quoting solar or a battery too? Choose that under Quoting as usual. With neither, it’s a hot-water-only or heating-and-cooling-only job: no panels, no battery and no roof, so the second section is just System.
Hot water
In Roof & system, open Hot water:
- Choose the Heat pump water heater from your catalogue. Each one says whether it’s on the VEU register. Register listings not in your catalogue are named but can’t be chosen, because the price is yours.
- Choose What it replaces: An electric water heater or A gas or LPG water heater. The VEECs wait for this answer.
- Read the line under it: the installed price, the VEECs, what the customer pays towards it, and the least VEU needs them to pay.
Heating & cooling
In Roof & system, open Heating & cooling:
- Choose What heats the home now, or Nothing: this is new heating. Further questions appear only when VEU needs them: Is it the home’s main heating?, Floor area it heats, m², Was the home finished more than 2 years ago?, How many of these heaters are coming out and How many air conditioners that aren’t in a bedroom are coming out.
- Add each unit with + Ducted, + Split or + Multi-split.
- For each unit, choose the Air conditioner from your catalogue. Its listing shows beside it, with a multi-split’s indoor units as you recorded them in Admin. A rep never types a kW.
- Choose What it replaces: The heater above, another heater, or Nothing: new heating. Where VEU asks, answer Is it also replacing an air conditioner that isn’t in a bedroom?
- Read what the unit shows: its VEU scenario, its VEECs, any cap, what the customer pays towards it, or the reason it can’t be priced yet.
Take unit 1 off (and so on) removes a unit.
Quote a unit without the VEU discount
Tick Quote without the VEU discount on a unit to price it at its full catalogue price, with no VEECs. It’s left out of the VEU count and the pack, the proposal says no VEU discount applies to it, and the rest of the job is priced as before. A model that isn’t on the register reads “no VEU discount” in the list and can be chosen only this way. When a unit can’t be priced with VEECs, its message says how to quote it anyway.
When the job replaces gas
When a gas water heater or a gas heater is coming out, Make asks about the gas:
- Gas supply: Mains gas or Bottled LPG.
- Is the home coming off gas entirely? (mains gas only): yes, or something stays on gas, a cooktop say.
- A year of gas off the customer’s gas bill, MJ, optional. It holds the running costs to what the home actually uses.
What closing the gas account would save is shown on its own line, never in the saving. The gas and LPG prices are yours, under Admin → Products & pricing → Tariffs & the savings model; blank uses the default shown beside each box.
On the price rail
Each VEU discount is its own line in the Incentives card, for example Hot water · 7 VEECs or Heating & cooling, unit 1 · 59 VEECs, with the price of each VEEC and “created by” your partner, “your accredited VEU partner”. VEECs are rounded down to whole certificates. Until a unit can be priced, the rail gives the reason in the pricing engine’s own words.
Beside the water heater and each unit, Running costs, an estimate gives the cost a year now and after. The saving and payback on the rail include them.
What your customer sees
- Each VEU discount as its own line: the number of VEECs, the price of each, your accredited VEU partner, and the least the customer pays towards it.
- Comfort and running costs: what changes for the home, the running cost a year before and after for heating, hot water and cooling, where their power comes from, and what happens to the gas. Each appliance’s saving counts for its life and then stops. These are modelled estimates, and the page says so.
- Each unit and water heater in the warranty table, with its years.
- On a hot-water-only or heating-and-cooling-only proposal, no roof, solar or battery parts.
The figures are your business’s to check before you send.
After the sale
The job sheet lists the water heater as HW1 and the units as AC1, AC2 and on, with a row for each old product to take out. Collecting what your accredited provider needs is the VEU evidence guide. Next, send it.
